Our Shag Club:
The Beach Shaggers of Birmingham
shag club was formed in 1992 as a
social dance club to promote the
Carolina Shag
dance. Our club is a
member of the Association of Carolina Shag
Clubs, an organization of
over 100+ shag clubs stretching from Tampa to Boston, but mainly in
the Carolina's. Our local Birmingham club membership averages
150 members per year.
Where
and When do we dance:
The Beach Shaggers of Birmingham
now meet at Gabriels Cafe located at 3706 Lorna Road in
Hoover. We meet each Tuesday night - dancing begins at
7:00 pm - until. 9:15. Weekly FREE dance lessons for beginners start at
6:30 pm, these usually
last a half/hour.
Also,
each year our club hosts the annual Shag-A-Rama
Beach
Party in Panama City,
Florida
.
The dates for
Shag A Rama 2008 will be
October 7TH -
12TH
at the Boardwalk Beach Resort in Panama City Beach,
Florida
.
Membership
Dues and Other Information:
Annual
membership dues are only $30.00 for new members; and $25.00
for current members, if they rejoin before March 1st. Membership
dues help support
our great shag music, the DJ's who spin the tunes, our club newsletter
THE
SHAG RAG, and various special
parties throughout the
year. If you love to dance, enjoy great music, and have fun
meeting friendly people - Beach Shaggers of Birmingham is the
place for you.
